As a graduate student at Columbia University, Allegra won a prize for her final project.
Allegra developed a concept, and construction method for a mass customized two-family home that built on the methods of suburban developers.
A viable mass-customized building technology was developed for and executed at ½” scale using CNC milling equipment.
Panels ship flat and are expanded and assembled on the site. Each panel is a composite of a finished interior surface, a stiff insulation filled honeycomb structural layer, and a vapor and moisture barrier. These layers are selectively laminated and cut with computer controlled technology to create doors, windows, and partitions. Local cladding technologies are used.
